This qualification will provide learners with the underpinning knowledge and skills to work in a Signmaking environment as a Signmaker or in other related roles.
Signmakers design, make and fit all types of signs for commercial and non-commercial use, such as, road traffic signs, signs for business premises, indoor and outdoor exhibition displays, shop fronts, and designs for vehicle bodies. Work as a signmaker would be likely to involve working with a range of materials, tools and equipment.
The qualification contains Mandatory Units covering the function and production of Signs, quality considerations and operating safely and effectively.
Optional Units cover the design, fabrication and assembly, decoration, and installation and maintenance of Signs.
Who Can Take this Qualification?
This qualification is intended for learners who are new entrants to the Signmaking Industry and wish to develop their knowledge and skills to enable safe progression into the workplace/employment.
It will also benefit learners who are already in employment within a Signmaking environment but require additional knowledge and skills as part of an existing job role or to enable career progression.
There are no prerequisites to achieve this qualification. It is assessed by a combination of written assignments and an external examination.
