2018 marks 30 years of Awarding Qualifications for PAA\VQ-SET
PAA\VQ-SET is still working with Employers, Colleges and Providers to ensure our Regulated and innovative Bespoke qualifications continue to meet the needs of their businesses and Enhancing Skills through Qualifications.
The beginning of PAA\VQ-SET was in 1969 with the Man-made Fibres Producing Industry Training Board. In 1988 with the launch of the National Council for Vocational Qualifications (NCVQ) the first NVQs for a Process Industry were created.
From 1997, as a fully independent Awarding Organisation now known as the Process Awards Authority, PAA continued offering qualifications predominantly in the Man-made Fibres, Paper, Refractory and Building Products and their related sectors.
In July 2002, Process Awards Authority (PAA) acquired the Awarding Organisation, Vocational Qualifications for Science, Engineering and Technology (VQSET). This Awarding Organisation provided services to the Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Science and Meteorology sectors.
The amalgamation of the two Awarding Organisation functions owned by Process Awards Authority now trades under the joint name of PAA\VQ-SET. Various acquisitions since then have followed including the Fibreboard Awarding Body (FAB) and Skills Assessment Services Limited (SASL).
