Bespoke Qualifications are the perfect fit for Process Safety
HFL Consulting's CIProSTM qualifications for Continuous Improvement in Process Safety were developed in response to a genuine industry need. Through their work in the preparation of COMAH Safety Reports for clients, and associated consultancy and training services, HFL Consulting had encountered the same issues time after time, no matter what the type of organisation or the level of personnel.
Their findings were further ratified when they undertook the UK’s first ever Process Safety Management benchmarking programme of the UK chemical industry. In particular, this revealed a lack of understanding and detail in high level policies relating to process safety, an over-reliance on engineers to identify, prioritise and address problems and a lack of clear direction in the identification of critical equipment and activities.
“Our process safety and business improvement expertise and PAA\VQ-SET’s experience in delivering course structures that add real value proved to be the ideal combination.”
Added to this was the increasing requirement for companies to demonstrate organisational competence to the COMAH Competent Authority.
Clearly, there was a need for training, but rather than traditional academic qualifications that used theoretical examples, HFL Consulting believed that organisations would derive far greater benefit from qualifications that would bring measurable benefits to both the business and the individual. The training needed to be vocational and bespoke, so that delegates could tackle and resolve real problems in the workplace.
The result was a suite of Post Graduate Qualifications (QCF Level 7 and Level 3) which were developed in conjunction with PAA\VQ-SET. The qualifications have been designed to promote good management practice in process safety and to demonstrate both individual and organisational competence. They are also aligned to support the Cogent Sector Skills Council’s Gold Standard.
“We had an open dialogue with PAA\VQ-SET throughout the evolution process of each of the qualifications, which helped immensely,” said Sarah Grindrod, HFL Consulting’s Development Director.
“The flexible, modular nature of the PAA\VQ-SET model was also ideal as it meant that the training could be bespoke to a particular company’s requirements.”
HFL Consulting's CIProSTM qualifications are the UK’s only nationally-recognised qualifications for Continuous Improvement in Process Safety and are also regulated by Ofqual.
