Health Physics Monitors complete Nuclear Apprenticeships

Congratulations to 12 Health Physics monitors who recently successfully completed their apprenticeship with Sellafield Ltd and have been retained in the company.

Sellafield Ltd, working with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, are responsible for the safe and secure operation and clean-up of the Sellafield nuclear site. The Sellafield site has been operational since the 1940s and Sellafield has led the development of the UK’s nuclear industry, from the production of plutonium for the country’s nuclear deterrent programme through to the development of nuclear power generation.

Another 20 Health Physics apprentices started with Sellafield Ltd in September and join 12 apprentices who are now in their second year. Richard Orme, Improvements Lead at Sellafield, said, “A very successful team effort by us all and a superb effort by the apprentices themselves – congratulations all round.”

As part of their apprenticeship all learners have achieved PAA\VQ-SET’s Level 2 Certificate in Health Physics Monitoring in the Nuclear Industry (Theory). Ann Randall, PAA\VQ-SET’s Chief Executive commented, “We are delighted to see this Level 2 Certificate in Health Physics Monitoring in the Nuclear Industry qualification which we developed in partnership with NSAN and employers contributing to the successful completion of the Health Physics Apprenticeship in the Nuclear Industry.”
