Nuclear Industry Awareness
Overview
This qualification will provide learners with the underpinning knowledge to work in various roles in the Nuclear Industry; it covers an introduction to the Industry and the fundamentals of Nuclear Physics.
The Nuclear Industry supplies electricity to the UK through nuclear power plants, producing energy for business and domestic use.
Qualification Content
The qualification contains three Mandatory Units covering the history of the Nuclear Industry, safety culture, the fundamentals of Nuclear Physics, radiation hazards and control of contamination, electricity generation, decommissioning, waste management and the Environment.
Who Can Take this Qualification?
This qualification is intended for learners who are new entrants to the Nuclear Industry and wish to develop their underpinning knowledge to enable safe progression into the workplace/employment.
It will also benefit learners who are already in employment within a Nuclear environment but require additional knowledge as part of an existing job role or to enable career progression.
There are no prerequisites to achieve this qualification. It is assessed by an external examination.
