PAA\VQ-SET will be running a series of workshops for its centres aimed at providing an opportunity for attendees to explore and share best practice ideas. These workshops will cover a number of different areas which are listed below. They will be an informal and interactive opportunity to share and learn with others.

A1 & V1 Evidence Requirements - This workshop will give participants the opportunity to explore the specific requirements of delivering the Assessor and Verifier Awards, including the role of independent assessors.  It will aim to give clarification on the occupational competence requirements of those involved in assessing and internally verifying the A1, A2, and V1 qualifications.  It will also give the opportunity to discuss the evidence required by candidates to demonstrate competence for the A1, A2 and V1 Awards, and supporting assessment methods.  The workshop will be of particular interest to anyone involved in the delivery of the Assessor and Verifier Awards, rather than individuals working towards those qualifications. 

Assessor & Verifier Best Practice Workshops - These full day workshops will cover the requirements of the Assessor & Verifier standards and the NVQ Code of Practice 2006. In addition they will focus on issues of Quality Assurance and Assessment. Further information

Best Practice for Centre Co-ordinators - This workshop will give participants the opportunity to explore good practice in co-ordinating an approved Centre.  It will aim to give clarification on policies and procedures required from setting up a Centre and Centre Approval, and discussion on maintenance and improvement of centre systems and quality assurance.  Participants will discuss the requirements of the Awarding Body and External Verification visits, in line with the NVQ Code of Practice 2006.  

Best Practice Workshops – Laundry and Dry Cleaning NVQs - This workshop is aimed at both Assessors and Internal Verifiers to provide them with the opportunity to explore best practice; it is designed specifically for those involved in the delivery of the Laundry and Dry Cleaning NVQs.  The Assessment Strategy for these NVQs will be covered, along with appropriate assessment methods. Participants will be asked to consider the Evidence and Knowledge Requirements for these NVQs; what and how much is appropriate; and related issues such as referencing and the use of expert witnesses.

E-Portfolios - This workshop will give participants the opportunity to discuss possibilities and developments in electronic methods of portfolio construction.  It will aim to explore the benefits to organisations and individuals of using the two main methods (electronic storage and web based programmes), and participants will be able to discuss and review the different methods to clarify which approach may best suit them.  The workshop will be of particular use to anyone who is considering introducing electronic portfolios in their centre and assessors/verifiers who will use the systems.

Professional Discussion - This half day workshop will give participants the opportunity to explore good practice when carrying out Professional Discussions.  The workshop will focus on when to use Professional Discussion as an assessment method and ways of planning, conducting and recording effective Professional Discussions.

Witness Testimony/Personal Statement - This half day workshop will give participants the opportunity to explore best practice, discuss appropriate situations in which to use Witness Testimony and Personal Statements as evidence, and how to plan for and involve witnesses in the assessment process.
